We’re Heading to Jiangxi!

Nanchang Project Spring 2027 Search Trip

Participate in our Jiangxi Search!

Nanchang Project is returning to China in Spring 2027 for a special search trip in Jiangxi Province. We will search on behalf of Jiangxi adoptees to reconnect them with their birth families. During our 2025-26 Winter Search Trip to Guangxi, we traveled with three Guangxi Adoptee Ambassadors, visited 5 cities, distributed 5,400+ search posters for 174 Guangxi adoptees, and conducted DNA tests on 30 birth families. Collectively, our Guangxi search trip videos amassed over 18 million views on Chinese social media. Our searches in China are not just trips; they serve as vital educational outreach opportunities to inform the everyday Chinese citizen that nearly 160,000 children from China were adopted abroad and wish to reconnect with their roots. As we lay the foundation for future search efforts in the areas we visit, we hope that more and more birth families will bravely come forward to recognize their long-separated children. Reunion is possible when both sides are searching for it!

This year, we will select three Jiangxi Adoptee Ambassadors from different cities to accompany Nanchang Project’s search team. Each Ambassador will join us for a 3.5 day search in the area where they were found and help us locate birth families for the hundreds of other Jiangxi adoptees who could not travel. The trip is tentatively scheduled for 2 weeks within March-April 2027 (dates pending). Adoptee Ambassador applications open on July 12 and end on August 23, 2026. Ambassadors must bring a Support Companion for this trip.

During the trip, we will arrange all guides and accommodations. Ambassador participation fees cover the following in-China expenses on the days they travel with us:

  • Hotel accommodations

  • Meals shared as a group

  • Search posters (customized with your details)

  • Searcher and guide fees

  • Orphanage application and visit (if applicable)

  • Transportation within Jiangxi

Please note, all other trip-related expenses—such as international flights, passport/visa fees, souvenirs—will be the responsibility of the Ambassadors and their Companions.

Due to the emotional nature of these trips, Adoptee Ambassadors must be 18 years or older at the time of travel.

After the application deadline, we will carefully review all submissions and invite candidates for interviews. The Jiangxi cities we visit on our search itinerary are based on the Ambassadors who are selected to travel with us.

Join Jiangxi Search Posters:

As we did for previous search trips, we will create two types of posters for our Jiangxi search trip. Adoptees from anywhere in Jiangxi of any age may register their information for our Jiangxi-wide Posters, which we will share online and have physical copies of on hand during our search. If our finalized itinerary includes a stop in the city you were reportedly found in, you will have the option to be included on our City-specific Posters—of which hundreds of copies will be dispersed to locals in person. See info graphics below for additional details and benefits. Adoptees who join our flyers will have the opportunity to become a member of a private group chat only for Jiangxi participants—where we share more frequent in-China updates as they happen throughout the search!

Poster registration opens in October 2026!

NOTE: Many children were sent to the orphanage in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi province, for their adoption. If you were adopted from Nanchang, it is in your best interest to check your abandonment/adoption documents to verify if you were actually “found” in Nanchang or originated outside of this major city. Trip and group poster arrangements are made based on where adoptees are reportedly FOUND, not adopted from. We will not be searching on-the-ground in Nanchang this trip.
