Navigating Reunion:
A Space for Chinese Adoptees
A Nanchang Project Event | May 3, 2026 | Zoom Meeting
A low-pressure, adoptee-only space for Chinese adoptees who are currently in reunion with their biological families in China.
Reunion can hold a lot at once—connection, uncertainty, joy, grief, curiosity. Whether you’ve just matched, are planning a first trip, have already met your biological family, or are navigating a more complex or evolving relationship, this space is for you.
While many spaces focus on the search or identity journey, there are fewer places to simply exist in what comes after a match. This space is for that in-between: a chance to be with others who understand the experience of reunion in a real, lived way.
There’s no agenda and no expectation to share. You’re welcome to come as you are—whether that means talking, listening, or just being present. The space will be lightly facilitated, with an emphasis on connection, shared experience, and emotional safety.
This is a first (pilot) session to see if there’s interest in gathering more regularly.

Chinese adoptees (18+)
Currently in reunion with biological family in China. At this time, we are not opening this space to adoptees who are solely in reunion with biological relatives outside of China.
To maintain a trusted space with shared lived experience, participants must have a confirmed DNA match. After registering, email proof of your match to brenna@nanchangproject.com to complete your registration request. Attendance will be confirmed after review and approval. Examples: DNA match results, messages with birth family, or documentation from a searcher/organization (screenshots with sensitive info may be blurred).

NCPT Background
The Nanchang Project (NCPT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2018, fully operated by volunteers. Our mission is to help re-connect Chinese adoptees worldwide with their roots in China, supporting their search for birth families, origins, and identity. To date, we have assisted in 130+ reunions and registered over 600 birth families. We are proudly also the only organization of its kind that is co-led by Chinese adoptees and adoptive parents, with the intent to be fully run by adult adoptees in the future.
