Mid-Autumn Festival
5K Run for Reunion
This Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节), help Chinese adoptees reunite with their first families by joining Nanchang Project’s first Run for Reunion. Your participation helps fund our upcoming annual search trip to China and provides free DNA tests for families to assist them in finding the children they lost.
Sign up to walk or run the 5K at your own pace anytime between October 1-15, 2026. Participants who submit their results and an (optional) fun photo will be entered in a raffle!

How Does Our Virtual 5K Work?
Register for the event HERE. Registration fees are on a sliding scale starting at $20 USD. The registration form will include the option to sign up for one of our regional walks or to participate remotely anywhere in the world. The deadline to register is October 1, 2026.
Download a fitness app [optional]. Ensure that the application can track distance traveled and time–examples are Strava, Apple Fitness, Google Fit, Samsung Health, etc. This is optional, but we will be raffling off prizes to participants who submit a screenshot of their 5K results OR a fun photo.
If you are participating remotely, run or walk a 5K around your neighborhood or a local trail anytime between October 1-15, 2026. You are more than welcome to encourage a group of friends and family to participate in the event together! Don’t forget to start your fitness app and take a photo.
If you are participating at one of our regional events, show up at the designated location and time to participate in the 5K. Enjoy the walk/run and take the opportunity to connect with Nanchang Project volunteers and supporters in person. More detailed instructions will be sent to you via email as we get closer to the event if you registered for a regional walk.
Submit your results. Submit either a screenshot of your 5K results from your fitness app OR a photo to be entered into our raffle and leaderboard. The results submission form will be located below in October and sent to participants via email.

Fun fact: Did you know that 团圆 (tuányuán) means reunion in Chinese? The concept of reunion is core part of the Mid-Autumn Festival. The second character, 圆 (yuán), means round, which is symbolized by the full moon and also the round mooncakes traditionally eaten during this holiday. The Mid-Autumn Festival centers on family reunion, completeness, and harmony and is represented by roundness or fullness of family, friends, and food.
