To date, Nanchang Project has made over 117 DNA matches and provided DNA tests to 600+ birth relatives in China since our founding in 2018. Our spreadsheet of tested Chinese families is displayed below. All birth families listed are currently registered at GEDmatch.com. Many of our matches occurred prior to the creation of this spreadsheet, so not every Nanchang Project match is on this sheet. We will be adding an additional spreadsheet soon to reflect matches made for adoptees with our help in China’s National Reunion/Police Database.
How to match with these families:
DNA testing is a must to confirm a biological relationship. Our birth relatives are currently in GEDmatch—simply submit your DNA to this database to see if there’s a match. You can find more information about GEDmatch and other databases on our DNA Testing page. On our Resources page, we have a GEDmatch guide that walks you through interpreting your results as well as links with instructions for how to download your raw data for upload to other autosomal (SNP) databases. All new birth families tested with Nanchang Project will be added to GEDmatch.
Know a potential birth relative who needs to be DNA tested?
Please contact us and one of our volunteers can mail a free Chinese-based DNA test to any place in China. All matches made through Nanchang Project have always been free and will continue to be. We believe finances should never prevent a reunion. Reach out to us to schedule a DNA kit to be sent to your Chinese contact.
