From Me, To You, Beyond The Sea

From Chongqing;

It has been years since the last time we saw each other. No matter how much time passes, I still miss you.

Every year, I think about you, especially on the day I was found, which is for me, the longest night of the year.

To this day, I still wonder why you left me; indeed, there were complicated circumstances, but I can't help thinking if there was something that could have been different.

There is no use looking back at the past, but I find difficult to face the future without you.

Deep down, I know things can never be as they were before, as you must already have your own life, but I would like to see you once more, for a final farewell, before parting ways forever.

I write these words to you now, because I don't know if we will ever see each other again. Sometimes I fear you may have already left this world.

Others will never be able to truly comprehend our circumstances — adoptees, birth families — for them, the story has already been told, and ours is nothing but a page in history, a fading memory, but for us, is a tragedy that still affect us.

I wish these voices can be heard, and our story understood someday, so no more families or children will have to suffer this in the future.

To this day, as always, I can’t help but miss you.

From me, to you, beyond the sea.
