We’re Heading to Guangxi!

Participate in our Guangxi Search! Itinerary Announced!

The Nanchang Project is returning to China this winter for a special search trip in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. We will search on behalf of Guangxi adoptees to reconnect them with their birth families. During our 2024 Search Trip to Hunan, we traveled with two Hunan Adoptee Ambassadors (one of whom reunited with her birth family), visited 5 cities, distributed 3,000+ search posters for over 250 Hunan adoptees, and conducted DNA tests on more than 25 birth families. Collectively, our Hunan search trip videos amassed over 5.5 million views on Chinese social media. Our searches in China are not just trips; they serve as vital educational outreach opportunities to inform the everyday Chinese citizen that nearly 160,000 children from China were adopted abroad and wish to reconnect with their roots. As we lay the foundation for future search efforts in the areas we visit, we hope that more and more birth families will bravely come forward to recognize their long-separated children. Reunion is possible when both sides are searching for it!

This year, we have selected four Guangxi Adoptee Ambassadors from different cities to accompany The Nanchang Project team. Each Ambassador will join us for a 3-4 day search in the area where they were found and help us locate birth families for the hundreds of other Guangxi adoptees who could not travel. The trip is scheduled for 2 weeks within December 2025 - January 2026. We are creating group search posters to distribute in person/online and we will be visiting these areas:

• Yulin City includes: Beiliu City, Rong County, Xingye County, Bobai County, Luchuan County, Yuzhou District, Fumian District

• Wuzhou City includes: Cenxi City, Cangwu County, Teng County, Mengshan County, Changzhou District, Wanxiu District, Longxu District

  • Cenxi City - We are making a Cenxi-specific flyer, which will be distributed in person to locals in Cenxi

• Guigang City includes: Guiping City, Pingnan County, Gangbei District, Gangnan District, Qintang District

NCPT Background

The Nanchang Project (NCPT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2018, fully operated by volunteers. Our mission is to help connect adoptees to their roots in China. To date, we have assisted in 120+ reunions and registered over 600 birth families. We are proudly also the only organization of its kind that is co-led by Chinese adoptees and adoptive parents, with the intent to be fully run by adult adoptees in the future.

Funding & Trip Costs:

Our work is made possible entirely through individual contributions, with donations primarily coming from Chinese adoptees and their families. For this trip, we will have three Nanchang Project team members traveling, as well as hiring two local Search Partners to assist with guiding and translating during the search process. At this time, we are planning to have a Chinese social media influencer accompany us too. He helped us last year in Hunan and is planning to travel again with us to help Guangxi adoptees. Please note, his schedule may change, but as of right now, he is planning to attend. The cumulative costs for our 2024 Hunan search trip were approximately $10,000 USD, and we expect the expenses for our upcoming Guangxi trip to be higher due to additional persons participating this year (Team Leaders, Adoptee Ambassadors, social media influencer—note that Ambassadors are required to pay participation fees to cover their portion of the trip). We will again offer a free DNA test to ANY birth family located during and after this search trip.

To help offset the costs of this search and logistics, we require contributions from Guangxi poster participants and are hosting several fundraisers in the coming months. Of course, we also welcome donations in any amount from anyone who admires our work and wishes to support us. We are in need of donations year round to purchase DNA tests for birth families across China. Thank you so much for your consideration and support! We can accept donations through these methods:
